Fishery Rules & Safety Guidelines

We love our lakes, wildlife, and fish – and we ask that all anglers help us keep Rum Bridge safe, clean, and enjoyable for everyone.

General Fishing Rules

• Max two rods per angler.
• Do not leave rods unattended – if you leave your swim, wind in.
• Barbless hooks only.
• No fixed leads – rigs must allow leads to eject freely. Beads must pass easily over knots.
• Unhooking mats and large landing nets are required. (Mats can be provided on request.)
• All mats, nets, and slings must be dry on arrival. If unsure, please use the dip tank before fishing.
• 12lb minimum line when carp fishing.
• No braided mainline.
• Fish must be returned quickly and safely – no retaining or sacking.
• Photograph fish low over your mat.
• Keep all gear wet when handling fish.
• Treat all hook marks or wounds with a suitable carp care product (required).
• No bait boats, nuts, artificial baits, or surface fishing. (Zig rigs allowed.)
• Pike fishing is during Oct 1st – March 1st.
• Wire traces and barbless hooks are required.

Angling permits:

If you want to fish, you will need to book a fishing permit. Please make sure that those who will actually be fishing, have read the fishery-rules beforehand. This will be checked on arrival, and anyone who has not read the rules may not be allowed to fish, and no refunds of permits will be given.

Environmental & Safety Guidelines

• Littering will not be tolerated. Please take all rubbish home- including teabags and cigarette butts. Help protect our ducks and other wildlife!
• If you lose your rig or your line gets caught- especially around the islands- let us know straight away so we can help remove it and avoid tethered fish.
• There are aerators in both ponds with heavy pipes along the bottom. Do not fish close to these, and if your line gets caught, do not pull for a break- contact us immediately for assistance.

Dogs Onsite

• If you’re bringing a dog, please email us in advance at info@rumbridge.co.uk with the breed.
• Dogs must be always kept on a lead to protect local wildlife.

Rule Breaches

• Anyone not following the rules may be asked to leave immediately and could receive a permanent ban.

Closures

• We may occasionally close the lakes due to weather, oxygen crashes, spawning, or private events. If affected, you’ll be offered a choice of alternative dates.

🎣 What kind of fish can I catch at Rum Bridge?

• Carp up to 30lb (Moat Lake up to 20lb)
• Tench up to 6lb
• Rudd & Roach up to 2lb All lakes are well-stocked and regularly maintained.

Are the lakes oxygenated?

Yes – our lakes are aerated 24/7 to ensure a healthy environment for the fish.

Can beginners’ fish at Rum Bridge?

At this time, we cannot accommodate beginners unless they’re fishing with someone experienced.

What’s the difference between day and night fishing?

• Both require pre-booking so we can assign you a swim.
• For night fishing, bring your own bivvy, or book one of our lakeside pods or bell tents (subject to availability). Click here to check availability

• Arrival: from 8.00am
• Departure:  7.00pm

Night Pass with Bivvy

• £25 per day pp
• Arrival:  from 4.00 – 8pm
• Departure: 11am next day
